Hedione has a light, airy floral character with a watery, jasmine-like nuance and little sweetness. It does not dominate a blend on its own but gives a sense of diffusion and radiance to other materials around it.
It is used in spray perfumes, attars and perfume compounds to add lift and a soft floral background, often alongside jasmine, rose or citrus notes. It also finds use in scented soaps and cosmetics where a light floral diffusion is wanted.
Blend in small proportion with other aroma chemicals or essential oils and dissolve in perfumer's alcohol or a suitable carrier oil before use; test the strength in a trial batch before scaling up.
