Aldehyde C12 carries a waxy, fatty top note with a citrus-green edge, a character associated with classic floral-aldehydic perfume styles. In small amounts it adds lift and a clean, slightly soapy sparkle to a blend.
It is used by perfumers and attar makers to build floral, chypre and aldehydic accords, and finds use in soap and cosmetic fragrance bases where a similar waxy-clean note is wanted.
Dissolve in alcohol or carrier oil before adding to a perfume or attar base, starting with a small proportion and adjusting to the desired strength. It is typically blended with florals, musks or citrus notes rather than used alone.
