Frankincense essential oil carries a warm, resinous scent with light woody and slightly citrus-like facets. It sits well as a base note, lending depth and a dry, balsamic quality to blends without overpowering other materials.
It is used in attar composition, spray perfumes, soap making and cosmetic formulations where a resinous, woody base note is wanted. It can also be blended into candle fragrance work.
Blend in small proportions with other essential oils or aroma chemicals as part of the base notes, diluting in a carrier oil or alcohol base depending on the application. Test the blend ratio before scaling up a batch.
