Butylated Hydroxytoluene, known as BHT, is a white crystalline powder with a faint characteristic odour of its own. It is not used as a fragrance note but as a functional additive mixed into other materials in small amounts.
Dissolve a small measured amount of BHT into carrier oils, perfume bases or finished blends before other ingredients are added, stirring until fully dissolved. It is typically used at a low percentage of the total batch weight.
