Benzyl Alcohol is a clear, mild-smelling liquid used in perfumery and cosmetics as a solvent. It mixes well with alcohol, oils and many aroma chemicals, and is used to thin thick resins and balsams so they blend more easily into a formula.
It is used in attar and perfume making to dissolve concretes, resins and solid aroma chemicals, and in cosmetic and soap formulations as a carrier and dilution base.
Add gradually to resins, concretes or thick aroma chemicals and stir until dissolved, then blend into the rest of the formula. Can also be used to dilute concentrated materials before further mixing.
